The Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) invites qualified applicants for education sponsorship to pursue an undergraduate course in engineering at a local university recognized by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia.
The P. Ganendra Scholarship will be offered to well rounded Malaysian candidates who have attained excellent academic achievements, who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and who have devoted time to make an impact to the community through extra-curricular activities.

1.    Introduction

The P. Ganendra Scholarship, established in 2009 is set up in memory of the late Ir. P. Ganendra, one of the leading luminaries in engineering consultancy in Malaysia, who had set the pace for the growth of the industry in the 1970s through his vision and passion for engineering. The late Ir. P. Ganendra had set up Minconsult Sdn Bhd, one of the largest multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Malaysia and through his untiring effort built up one of the largest collection of technical journals, books and publications now housed in the P. Ganendra Library.

The P. Ganendra Scholarship is set up to assist deserving individuals to pursue an undergraduate course in engineering at a local university recognized by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia.

The P. Ganendra Scholarship will be managed by the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) for and on behalf of the Ganendra family.

2.    Field of Study

    The Scholarship is offered for a First Degree course in the field of Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering related to the Building and Construction Industry at a recognized local university.

3.    Scholarship Award

(a)    Eligibility Criteria

Minimum requirements:
    (i)    A Malaysian citizen.
    (ii)    Recommended by an Individual Member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM).
    (iii)    Passed the SPM examination with credits in Bahasa Malaysia and the English Language subjects, with no less than seven(7) A1s in subjects taken.
    (iv)    STPM or A-Level with at least two(2) As and one B, or Diploma/Matriculation - Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.50.
    (v)    Not exceeding 25 years of age on 1st July of the year of scholarship application.
    (vi)    Has been offered a place to pursue or is already pursuing a First Degree in Engineering at a recognized local university.
    (vii)    Special consideration will be given to candidates facing financial constraints.

Additional Requirements:
    (i)    Good command of the English language, both written and oral.
    (ii)    Demonstrate leadership qualities, versatile and possess teamwork capabilities.
    (iii)    Excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports.

(b)    Value of the Scholarship

    (i)    The Scholarship provides a grant of RM4,500 per year. This grant will be given every year until the completion of the course.

        The successful candidate will have to maintain a minimum CGPA score of 3.50 to continue receiving the grant for the next academic year. The successful candidate is responsible to submit his/her semester results to the Scholarship Fund Committee for verification and record. The Scholarship will be discontinued if any of the semester results are not submitted on time.

    (ii)    No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship. On completion of the course, the successful candidate will be given the option to work with one of the companies within the Minconsult Group of Companies.

(c)    Termination of the Scholarship

    The Scholarship Fund Committee reserves the right to discontinue the Scholarship if the successful candidate has been found guilty of any act of misconduct that is detrimental to the reputation of the P. Ganendra Scholarship or ACEM. The Scholarship Fund Committee's decision is final and binding.

4.    Announcement and Selection of Candidate(s)

    The announcement for the Scholarship will be made via the ACEM quarterly journal, Suara Perunding, the ACEM website at www.acem.com.my and/or internal circular to members not later than March of each year.

    The completed Application Forms will be submitted to Scholarship Fund Committee through the ACEM Secretariat. The eligible candidate(s) will be selected by the Scholarship Fund Committee.

5.    Scholarship Application

Download and complete the Application Form and return the same to ACEM by the closing date as advertised. Print clearly or write legibly. Certified true copy of all required documents must be submitted with the Application Form. Applications received after the closing date or incomplete applications will be disqualified.

The Application Form together with the required documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope and marked on the TOP LEFT HAND CORNER "P. Ganendra Scholarship". Send to:
